Yankee Doodle Daffy

Sex. Drugs. Violence...and $44 sea bass. It's a fight for the ages, brought to you by the New York Times as it struggles to keep the nation safe for the ruling class. Call it Sarah Palin, The Sequel. Except we're talking about the Republican senatorial candidate in Connecticut, Linda McMahon.

Ann Coulter is taking no prisoners after WorldNetDaily scratched her from its “Taking America Back” national conference because she also has a speaking engagement at a New York City party of gay conservatives. The conservative pundit called WorldNetDaily Editor Joseph Farah not only a swine but also a “publicity whore,” according to The Daily Caller.

Get Thee Gay Bar To A Nunnery

WTC Mosque, Meet the Auschwitz Nuns
Pope John Paul offers a model of tolerance for a heated controversy.

In the 1980s, Carmelite nuns moved into an abandoned building on the edge of the former Nazi death camp to pray for the souls taken there. As with the dispute over the mosque near Ground Zero, the convent's presence escalated into a clash not only between different faiths but between competing historical narratives.

So what did Pope John Paul II do? He waited, and he counseled. And when he saw that the nuns were not budging—and that their presence was doing more harm than good—he asked the Carmelites to move.

low brow

Party of Hill-Rod and Ba-Rock suddenly scornful of WWE
I always thought the WWE was as vulgar and slimy as the average Democratic committee so I've used promo clips from You Tube every chance I could to insult Democrats who think they're better. Democrats are low brow multicultural promo jockeys as it is without mentioning wrestling.

Ezra Klein Speaks
As for sinister implications, is it "secret?" No. Is it off-the-record? Yes. The point is to create a space where experts feel comfortable offering informal analysis and testing out ideas. Is it an ornate temple where liberals get together to work out "talking points?" Of course not. Half the membership would instantly quit if anything like that emerged. There are no government or campaign employees on the list. More to the point, there are a number of folks who are straight news reporters and consciously eschew partisanship.

Pelosi Jumps the Shark

Pelosi blames GOP, Bush for unemployment
Republicans are “fighting against the economic recovery every step of the way,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday after worse-than-expected job numbers were released.

Pelosi also took a shot at former President George W. Bush, saying the 71,000 private-sector jobs added to the economy in July is a “sharp turnaround from the 700,000 jobs per month lost under President Bush.”

Nowhere in the statement, though, does Pelosi characterize what exactly she makes of the jobless numbers.

“Today’s report shows our teachers, police officers, firefighters, and nurses are still feeling the worst of the Bush recession — while Republican leaders demean them as ‘special interests’ and try to block legislation that will grow our economy,” Pelosi said. “Democrats will return next week to save or create hundreds of thousands of jobs for our teachers, nurses, firefighters and police officers — and close loopholes that allow corporations to ship American jobs overseas.? This is critical as over the last three months, state and local governments have cut more than 46,000 jobs in education.”

All Flair No Sell

McMahon Closing in on Blumenthal in Connecticut?
Poll: Linda McMahon gaining ground on her opponent, Richard Blumenthal
Fresh face? Looks like a Romney-camp reject in a sparkly mask promoting stimulus warfare. Never a candidate more willing to deliver a canned phrase rehashed by pollsters ready to grease the wheels of the Statist machine with congenial smirks. Like a vampire not quite quite popular enough to shine all over, while American politics are held captive by two-faced ringleaders such as Blumenthal a candidate must fail unless he is willing to step into the arena of ideas and defend conservative values against every angst and privilege. Elections matter and November is no time to float the polls then count on pendulum aftershocks to drop a moderate liberal into office.

Rivals Near Finish Line in Connecticut

An Irrational Ruling

By Michele Bachmann
Yesterday, federal judge Vaughn R. Walker sent a blow to more than 7 million voters in California who had full faith in the democratic process. These citizens had extended their voting rights in November 2008 by passing Proposition 8, or a ban on same-sex marriage.

As gay-rights activists challenged the voter-passed referendum, the case made its way to Judge Walker in San Francisco. The Los Angeles Times reported, “The jurist, a Republican appointee who is gay, cited extensive evidence from the trial to support his finding that there was not a rational basis for excluding gays and lesbians from marriage.”

But if Walker says Proposition 8 doesn’t survive the rational basis test, then is he implying that the majority of California voters, those who voted for the measure, aren’t rational?

Since 1998, thirty states have added language to their constitutions, defining marriage as between a man and a woman. Does Walker believe the voters in these states aren’t rational either?

Frankly, I believe that progressive, activist judges, who issue their personal moral pronouncements under the guise of “constitutional law" are instead demonstrating irrational rulings.

In this case, we can expect to see Judge Walker’s ruling appealed to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and then end up at the U.S. Supreme Court.

Liberation Inquisition

Extreme Judicial Activism on Marriage
Judicial tyranny on the question of marriage must not be allowed to succeed. We are confident the Supreme Court will reject Judge Walker’s view that the people of California cannot protect the meaning of marriage in their state constitution.

Judge strikes down California's ban on same-sex marriage
Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed. The people of California, and the United States, have made clear in numerous ways that they have not consented to the redefinition of marriage. For the past two decades they have considered the arguments advanced by some for overturning marriage as it has been understood in our country. In state after state — 45 in all – they have chosen to reaffirm the meaning of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. They have done so because they understand that establishing same-sex marriage would transform the institution into a set of private interests rather than buttress it as a multi-generational reality binding mothers, fathers and their children biologically, socially and legally.

NYC Landmarks Panel Frees Way for Ground Zero Mosque
A New York City panel has denied landmark status to a building near ground zero, freeing organizers to build an Islamic center and mosque there. The Landmarks Preservation Commission's decision allows organizers to transform the 152-year-old building into an Islamic community center blocks from the site of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Our Patrick Henry Moment Is Here
It took only about fifty to seventy years for the mixed systems to fail. That is literally a moment in terms of history. Many people are still reluctant to admit that socialism is a failure despite the theoretical warnings and the actual failures themselves. With socialists, it is never the system and always the people that are the cause of failure. "If only we had better leaders." As Hayek and Mises pointed out, it has nothing to do with leadership. There is a fatal flaw in the concept.
