18 percent of white evangelicals said use of torture against suspected terrorists can often be justified and 44 percent said it can sometimes be justified. That adds up to 62 percent. Compare that solid majority to the often/sometimes number for white non-Hispanic Catholics (51 percent, a bare majority) and white mainline Protestants (46 percent).

One more factor to consider: attendance at religious services. Fifty-four percent of those who attend religious services at least weekly say torture against suspected terrorists can be often/sometimes justified compared to 51 percent of those who attend monthly or a few times a year and 42 percent of those who attend seldom or never.

But how you ask the question can make a big difference. That 2008 survey also asked respondents a “Golden Rule” version of the question. Should the U.S. government use methods against our enemies that we would not want used on American soldiers? The proportion of southern white evangelicals who said torture was never or rarely justified rose from 38 percent to 52 percent. Ask Christians to think in such Golden Rule terms, and they do change.

If you screw up in the military, someone will care. And there will be consequences. Sometimes even death. What’s up with men nowadays who just do whatever they feel like, at any given moment, and fully expect that everything will be cool? Did they not learn consequences from mommy and daddy?

You know most people don't have the chance to fling with slick entrepreneurial types because they take responsibility to have a positive effect on other people's lives even if that means giving up the slightest bit of reputation.

I know people who never achieve anything because they chose to invest in family instead of wealth. Sometimes people are not even given the time to make the right choice and have to live with it. But with your track record kicking the curb I guess you wouldn't know about that. Why don't you lock yourself in the basement until you understand your contribution to the problem and that nobody deserves to be lied to.

Sometimes people mess with you and the way you perceive the utility of any given situation. Sometimes a gun is a lethal weapon. Sometimes a car is a lethal weapon. Sometimes I guess people don't want to see it that way because they believe they are created to be better than other people and it's their duty to crap on the unwashed masses. It's all over the news, somebody lost, somebody won, and all excuses are valid. Who cares as long as the big mouths have something to blab about.

Defense cuts equal decrease in national security standards. Why worry when Obama can hire that private military company from Iran to quell any rebelliousness like national tea parties?

Now that the USA is indebted to foreign economies for a generation and a half I'm sure the life of the average American taxpayer will be well taken care of and we won't be responsible for anything of substance, unless of course China needs an immigrant labor force in exchange for toxic assets.
