The Sixth Commandment

The commandment "thou shall not kill" (Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 5:17), is better understood to mean "you shall not murder," most modern translations of the Bible rendered it this way. According to the Bible not all killing, the taking of a life, is murder. Murder is the unlawfully taking of human life. The command not to murder applies to human beings, not to killing animals or plant life for food. God gave animals to mankind for his use (Genesis 1:26-30; 9:1-4).

But, this does not mean that humans have the right mistreat animals and the environment (Genesis 2:15; Deuteronomy 22:6-7; 25:4; Proverbs 12:10). Under the Old Covenant God allowed the Israelites to kill other humans under very special circumstances such as punishment for certain sins, for example, murder (Exodus 21:12-14, Leviticus 24:17, 21) and adultery (Leviticus 20:10, Deuteronomy 22:22-24). God also allowed the Israelites to engage in warfare and even gave them instructions about waging war (Deuteronomy 20:1-20). God also recognized that humans might accidentally kill each other, and he made provisions for this (Numbers 35:9-34; Deuteronomy 19:1-13).

Why Liberals Fear Religion

RUSH: They are afraid of you. They are afraid of the pope. They are afraid of anything coming from organized religion that has a belief in God, for a whole host of reasons. It makes them feel guilty; it makes them aware of their own shortcomings. I didn't hear what Bill Maher said because I don't watch his show but I've gotten a lot of e-mails from people who were upset about it. If I were you, I wouldn't waste much energy on it. You're talking about another miserable human. He's obviously gotta be one of the most miserable people walking the planet. This man cannot be happy.

We've discussed it countless times on this program. Among the reasons is that there is judgmentalism, there is a definite morality, right and wrong, there are not gray areas. There's not a lot of nuance, and they consider people that ascribe to these beliefs and teachings as closed-minded and bigots and just not very bright.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.

Defining Moment

“We’re going to make you do this.”

This person should be in an institution where he might possibly be reached instead he is robbed of his free will by whoever is recording the video, his system full of drugs and sent to play a role in a planned criminal act. He has no gang tattoos but he is physically powerful enough to carry out his threats.

The crowbar was placed there out of sight in reach of the street where it was used. This was not random act caught on tape. This was edited with a $500 application so it appears like a music video.

All for respect so people will feel fear over what he has wrought. I hope the cameraman is locked safely away from other people where he can no longer create these incidents.

This is what Christianity is, a haven away from these horrible acts and the only way on this Earth people can thrive.

Our Daily Bread for 4/16:

One year ago, people around the world were stunned by a shooting rampage that left 32 victims dead on the campus of Virginia Tech University. In the aftermath, the mother of one critically wounded student who survived said she did not want the ordeal to become the defining moment in her son's life. Instead, she hoped it could be "something positive, some great celebration of his life."

When the unthinkable happens, it may seem impossible to believe that anything can overcome the emotional scars. Yet, the life of Joseph offers a powerful illustration of God's transforming power (Gen. 37–50). The brothers who sold him into slavery were sure he would take revenge on them (50:15-17). But Joseph told them, "You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive" (v.20).

When we place our desire for revenge in God's hands, we become participants in the remarkable process described by Paul: "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" (Rom. 12:21).

Liberals Surrender to HAMMAS

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said he'll meet with a Hamas leader at a West Bank reception Tuesday, a sign he has not been cowed by criticism of his plans to meet with the violently anti-Israel group.

Both the United States and Israeli governments have already expressed displeasure at Carter's overtures to Hamas and labeled a terrorist organization by both countries. Carter is to meet Khaled Mashaal, the group's exiled leader, in Damascus, Syria, on Friday.

Carter's popularity hit bottom in Israel since he published a book two years ago drawing comparisons between Israeli policies in the West Bank and Gaza and apartheid in South Africa.

Hate Speech

My name is Phil Sevier and I am a racist, sexist, homophobe, bigot and life will continue to be very difficult for me. Furthermore I am a Christian and I resist demands against victimizing other people in the wake of my religion because the Bible preaches peace and forgiveness above all which is considered hate speech.

Because you see, if I forgive after enemies have forgiven me, what credit is that to me? Instead I forgive as Jesus as forgiven me. And for that I must die.

Love Your Enemies
27 "But I say to you who listen: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If anyone hits you on the cheek, offer the other also. And if anyone takes away your coat, don't hold back your shirt either. 30 Give to everyone who asks from you, and from one who takes away your things, don't ask for them back. 31 Just as you want others to do for you, do the same for them. 32 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 If you do [what is] good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you?
